The Whippets began a new season in the pool and put up a fourth place finish at conference relays this past week. This is a big development because the team has lost a lot of experience with most of its leaders graduating after last season.

Only Elkhorn and Division 1 schools Burlington and Badger finished higher than the Whippets during the match.

Whitewater medaled in three seperate relays, two third place finishes and a second. Sydney Hackney, Grace Fanshaw, Sara Foucault and Sydney Zimdars took third in the 1,000 Freestyle.

Zimdars, Debra Krebs, Fanshaw and Sara Foucault finished third in the 100 Freestyle. Anna Yeazel, Fanshaw, Hackney and Foucault
took second in the 400 Breaststroke. And Fanshaw, a freshman, took advantage of her opportunity, medaling in all of the relays.

“Super splits came from many swimmers tonight including the whole 200 Freestyle relay of Sierra Minton, Shannon Kehoe, Ireland Marinaro and Madeline Kuhl; Sydney Hackney in the 100 IM; Ireland Marinaro and Shannon Kehoe in the 100 Backstroke; Sara Foucault in the 100 Breaststroke and Alyssa Nelson in the 100 Freestyle,” coach Gina Foucault said.
