It’s no secret that the Whitewater High School girls soccer team has had a bit of an up and down season thus far. At times, they have been capable of beating anyone in the conference; at other times, they’ve stumbled, and that cost them a chance at a league championship.

What’s done is done. However, with the WIAA playoffs closing in, the Whippets needed to move some teams out of their way to get ready for ‘the dance’ and the lead up began in Jefferson in a conference match with the Eagles.

Allison Sedmark started off the scoring for Whitewater in the 20th minute of play, the result of dominant play that featured many possessions deep within Jefferson territory.

In a bit of a mishap, just before halftime, the Whippets mishandled the ball near their own goal resulting in a friendly fire goal to even the score.

The Whippets would recover though, scoring twice in the second half, both from Holly Hough who helped secure the team’s win and place Whitewater at 10-5-1 on the season.

In a related note, the Whitewater JV squad concluded its season with a 3-0 win over the Eagles on goals by Cristinia Rodriguez, Halley Stachow and Karsen Vance – finishing their season at 11-4-1 overall.

Easy win over Clinton

In the second of three games during the week, Whitewater whitewashed Clinton to the tune of 10-0 to earn another conference victory while working to get a better playoff seed in the process.

Junior Alyson Quass scored a team high four goals during the match, giving her 50 scores for her career. Quass is the first Lady Whippet to ever reach that milestone. Erika Levine also scored in the first half of the game against Clinton.

Holly Hough added two goals in the second half while Autumn Bultman, Brittney Piper and Allison Sedmak all found the back of the net as well.

It was an all-around performance that gave Whitewater its 10th conference victory on the year. At 11-5-1 overall, the Whippets were looking forward to ending their regular season against Edgerton.
