Heading over to Titan Stadium, the Whitewater High School track team took part in the Lourdes Knight Under the Lights event.

Liz Mielke was at it again, winning the 1,600-meter event with a time of 5:11.62, which set both a meet and school record. Mielke must have something against former WHS track star Amy Cooper, whom she broke a long-standing record of last week. This week, she took another of Cooper’s records, another one that has been on the school’s sports books for 29 years.

Other Whippets who ran well and earned the title of “Event Champion” were Brett Harms, who won the 3,200-meter race, Joe Bullis, who took the 300 hurdles, Lindsay Chase, winning the shot put event, and Keagen Stonewerth with the longest long jump on the day.

James Ehlen took third in the 1,600-meter race, right behind Harms. Roland Luckett placed fifth in the hurdles and Jacquelyn Caldwell took sixth in the 800-meter event, just two spots behind Mielke.

This meet was the final tune-up before the overall conference meet, which is set for Saturday, in Clinton.

Golfers fall to Edgerton

In the final regular season conference meet of the year, the Whippets varsity golf team traveled to Edgerton with only four shooters. Despite some WHS golfers shining, the team fell to the hosts.

Jake Walton shot a season best round of 49, helping the team finish with a score of 238, which means the other three scorers averaged 63 strokes.
