The Whitewater High School boys track team has been a few steps ahead of the girls unit so far this year, finishing in second place at the Clinton Relays last weekend while the girls finished sixth as a team.

The boys team won four events on the day – the long jump, shot put, 400-meter and 1600-meter relays.

Joe Bullis joined Keagan Stonewerth and Anthony Juoni to combine for a long jump of 57 feet, 5 inches. The throwers relay of Brad Stoll, Landon Walker, and Jon Cutshall took the shot put relay by over 10 feet, throwing 129-3 as a team.

Stonewerth, Cody and Dallas Jones, and Anthony Juoni ran the 400-meter relay and won by a narrow margin with a time of 45.89.

The meet ended with the Whitewater boys coming out victorious in the 1600-meter relay.  Juoni and Bullis ran with Ashton Caputo and Brett Harms to take the title in 3:36.2.

For the girls, Dani Dolan, Jacquelyn Caldwell, Amanda Herold and Liz Mielke ran 10:39.5 in the 3200-meter relay to win that event.

The other victory for the Whitewater girls team at the Clinton Relays came in the pole vault, where Jacquelyn Caldwell teamed up with Keely Fiedler and Kailey Reynolds to win the event with a combined effort of 23 feet, 6 inches.

Head coach John Houwers said he was pleased with the outcome.

“Overall, the teams all competed very well, and the coaching staff is happy with the outcome,” he said.
