JV wrestlers get varsity experience

The Whitewater High School Junior Varsity wrestling team took part in a dual meet tournament this past Saturday at Beloit-Turner. The squad was able to pull out a 1-3 overall record, defeating Columbus while netting some valuable mat time for the underclassmen.

Higmet Dauti, competing at 106 pounds, went 4-1 while Jake Walton (120) and Michael Fernandez (126) finished at 1-1. Mark Rodriguez (170) finished at 2-2 and Juan Tovar (182) was perfect in his two matches.

The Whippet’s Varsity squad will compete in the Mid-States Tournament on Dec. 27-28, which will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus.
