Three Whitewater High School boys soccer players have been named to the Rock Valley Conference all-conference first-team. The honor follows the team’s RVC championship, its first since 2008 and third under head coach Rene Menager.

Forward Mark Cuevas, midfielder Max Walton and defender Saul Vargas received RVC all-conference first-team awards.

The Whippets, who went 11-1-0 in the RVC, and 15-4-3 overall, had two more players named to the second team. They were midfielder Caleb Hintz and defender Keagan Stonewerth. Alonso Banda and Jacob Haeft were nominated as honorable mention players.

The RVC awards were presented at the team’s annual awards night held Nov. 6.

In addition to the all-conference honors, the coaches presented the team awards.

The team’s most improved players were Josh Pelayo (defender), Xhonotan Shahollari (midfielder) and Tyler Hill (overall).

Most valuable player awards went to Chamath Gunawardena as a defender, and Max Walton as a midfielder.

The coaches’ award, which goes for a players’ can-do attitude was given to Josh Nast and Jake Riemer.

The final award, the Whippet Award, which is presented to the team’s most fierce competitor, went to Forrest Spear.
