WHS cross country runners presented awards

The Whitewater High School Cross Country team celebrated the end of a very successful 2013 season at their year-end banquet on Monday, Nov. 11.

The WHS girls were Rock Valley Champions and the Boys finished 2nd. Brett Harms finished 5th at the state meet for the second consecutive year and Sara Ziolkowski came in an impressive 22nd.

The program is on a firm footing and coaches Chad Carstens, John Houwers, Jeff Weigel and Josh Barrett said they are already looking forward to the 2014 season.

The following awards were presented at the Banquet: Boys – Brett Harms, Most Valuable Runner Award, the Jack Daniels Senior Award, and the Heart and Soul Award; Jon Zimdars, Most Improved Runner; Max Kachel the second Heart and Soul Award; Girls – Sara Ziolkowski, Most Valuable Runner Award; Liz Mielke, the Phyllis Sievert Senior Award and the Heart and Soul Award; Stephanie Brown the second Heart and Soul Award; Andrea Sandoval, Most Improved Award.
