Swimmers head into post season

The Whitewater Whippets girls’ swim team finished third at the Platteville Invitational Saturday.

“Our Platteville Invite team had a fantastic meet, whether it was just their all out racing to win, best times or closing their race very strongly against their opponents,” head coach Gina Foucault said. “We saw many great things. The girls were able to put up nine wins out of 11 in this nine-team invite… very impressive.”

The following girls earned medals at the invite: first, 200 Medley Relay – Debra Krebs, Callie Hebert, Sara Foucault and Kassie Yeazel; first, 200 Freestyle – Foucault; first, 200 IM – Hebert; sixth, 200 IM – Sydney Hackney; first, 50 Freestyle – Yeazel; first, 100 Butterfly – Foucault; sixth, 100 Butterfly – Krebs; first, 100 Freestyle – Yeazel; sixth, 100 Freestyle – Sydney Zimdars; first, 100 Backstroke – Zimdars; third, 100 Backstroke – Krebs; seventh, 100 Backstroke – Hackney; first, 100 Breaststroke – Hebert; first, 400 Freestyle – Yeazel, Zimdars, Foucault and Hebert.

Coach Foucault said Zimdars had a great meet, putting up two top-10 times in the 100 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke.

“Sydney also ended up winning the 100 Backstroke from the outside lane, very impressive,” Foucault said.

“Our relays are starting to put in better times, which is what we need to see going into the championship part of the season,” she added.
