With a 4-2 win over Evansville Sept. 14, the Whitewater High School boys soccer team increased its lead to two games in the Rock Valley Conference. In addition, the team remained undefeated in RVC action at 5-0-0.

It did not take long for the Whippet boys to take on the board in this contest as Jake Reimer, off an assist from Mark Cuevas, scored when the game was not even one minute old.

Reimer scored again just before the half, this time with the help of Alonso Banda, to give Whitewater a 2-0 halftime lead.

In the second half it was Max Walton’s turn to score a pair of goals, with one assist from Xhanatan Shahollari.

Walton’s second goal gave Whitewater a 4-0 lead. Evansville scored two goals in the final 10 minutes of the game.

The win improved the Whippets overall season record to 8-2-0.

Two days earlier, the team hosted Jefferson in another RVC game and this time came away with a 5-3 win.

Seniors Caleb Hintz, Saul Vargus and Max Walton were honored on this night.

The seniors accounted for four of the five Whippet goals as Walton scored a hat trick in this game, and Hintz added a goal.

When Vargus was on the field anchoring the defense, Whitewater held Jefferson out of the net. All three of the Eagles goals came when Vargus was off the field.

Whitewater led 3-0 at the half on two goals by Walton (both assisted by Cuevas) and one by Josh Nast.

Walton and Hintz both scored in the second half with Banda assisting on both goals.

Jefferson’s three goals came late in the game.
