The first half last Friday night couldn’t have worked out much better for the Big Foot football team.

Until the final three minutes that is.

Big Foot gave top-seeded Evansville all it wanted to that point before the Blue Devils turned the momentum with nine unanswered points en route to a 35-14 victory in a WIAA Division 4 playoff opener.

The Chiefs ended the season at 4-6 overall, while Evansville advanced to the second round and will host fifth-seeded Lakeside Lutheran on Friday night.

Lakeside Lutheran moved on with a 42-28 victory over fourth-seeded Jefferson.

“We played a really, really good first half,” Big Foot coach Mike Welden said. “They scored, we came right back down the field and scored. We had a bunch of stops in the first quarter and the first half in general.”
