Four matches in last Tuesday’s Rock Valley Conference girls tennis dual at East Troy ended in a tiebreaker.

Big Foot won two of those – but it wasn’t quite enough.

The Chiefs battled the Trojans right to the end, but dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision.

Picking up wins for Big Foot were sophomore Claire Heckert at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0 over Jessica Tess; seniors Meredith Heckert and Izzy Klesmith at No. 1 doubles, 4-6, 7-5 (10-4) over Mackenzie Lindow and Erin Rice; and senior Nikita Jones and junior Claire Beyers at No. 3, 4-6, 7-5 (10-5) over Emma Scurek and Maddie Peters.

Dropping matches to the Trojans were sophomore Hannah Palmer at No. 2 singles, 5-7, 6-2 (8-10) to Mikayla Lamping; senior Hannah Schmidt at No. 3, 4-6, 3-6 to Milena Nelson; sophomore Keaton Sperling at No. 4, 5-7, 2-6 to Syd Raddeman; and senior Samantha Hartwig and sophomore Annie Rowe at No. 2 doubles, 1-6, 7-6 (3), (3-10) to Allison Slusar and Belle Verbeten.

Big Foot opened play last week with a split in a pair of RVC duals.

The Chiefs fell, 4-3 at Jefferson on Sept. 7, followed by a 5-2 win over visiting Edgerton last Monday in a match that was postponed in August because of inclement weather.

Winning matches against Edgerton were Meredith Heckert at No. 1 singles by default over Madi Strahota; Clare Heckert at No. 2, 6-0, 6-1 over Sally Lemke; Sperling at No. 3, 6-2, 6-3 over Madison Lien; Hartwig-Palmer at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, 6-0 over Kayleigh Guertin and Taylor Shaw; and Jones-Beyers at No. 3, 6-4, 6-4 over Rebecca Reeves and Johanna Rusch.

Meredith Heckert led her match over Strahota, 5-0, when it was postponed. Strahota was unable to compete because of illness.

Falling to the Tide were Rowe at No. 4 singles, 0-6, 0-6 to Kelsey Lien; and Klesmith-Schmidt at No. 1 doubles, 3-6, 6-2 (7-10) to Alexis Samuelsen and Maddie Laskowski.

In the dual against Jefferson, victories were posted by Clare Heckert at No.1 singles, 6-3, 6-4; Meredith Heckert-Klesmith at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-0; and Hartwig-Rowe at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, 6-4.
