Girls off to good start

An early 10-point deficit Tuesday night put the Big Foot boys basketball team in a hole right from the start.
And it was one the Chiefs never could recover from.
Senior Beau Cary led the way with 20 points, but it wasn’t enough in a 62-49 non-conference loss to Milton to open the 2016-17 season.
Cary made just three field goals in the game, but was solid from the free-throw line, where he converted on 14 of 18 attempts.
Big Foot’s Logan Eischeid added 17 points, including two 3-pointers, while Nelson Tovar chipped in with eight.
Milton had eight players score, including three in double digits.
Big Foot is idle until Mon-day night when it travels to Williams Bay for its yearly rivalry battle with the Bulldogs. That game tips off at 7:15 p.m.
The Chiefs won last year’s game with Williams Bay, 75-67, as Cary and Eischeid had 23 and 21 points, respectively.
Girls start 2-0
Earlier in the week, the Big Foot girls knocked off Milton 53-41 to improve to 2-0 on the young season.
Courtney Schoenbeck led the way with 21 points, including three 3-pointers and a six-for-nine effort from the free-throw line.
Olivia Briggs added 10 points for the Chiefs, followed by Makenzie Lueck with eight, Zanzie Demco with six and Brooke Wellhausen and Payton Courier each with four.
Big Foot made 21 of 26 free-throw attempts, while Milton was just 10 for 19.
The Chiefs held a slim three-point lead at halftime before they pulled away in the second half.
Big Foot travels to the Brookfield Central Shootout this weekend and faces Sussex Hamilton Friday night. The Chiefs open Rock Valley Conference play Tuesday at Beloit Turner.
