It looks pretty certain that the Palmyra-Eagle boys golf team has a stranglehold on the Rock Valley Conference regular-season title.

What remains in doubt is how the other teams will finish by the end.

Palmyra ran away from the field Tuesday at an RVC Mini Meet at Brodhead with a 170, well ahead of Clinton and Beloit Turner’s 200 and Big Foot’s 203.

Parkview was a distant fourth with a 219, followed by Brodhead with a 224.

Through five mini meets, Palmyra has 30 points, followed by Big Foot with 21, Clinton with 20.5, Turner with 16.5, Parkview with 12 and Brodhead with three.

Leading the Chiefs was Steve Wolski with a 47, followed by Quintin Sharpe with a 50, Lars Larsen with a 52, Jacob Watters with a 54 and Foster Isham with a 61.

Big Foot opened its week with a 192-208 nonconference win over Burlington at the Big Foot Country Club.

Wolski had a 47 to lead the Chiefs, followed by Sharpe and Larsen with 48s, Isham with a 49 and Quentin Arnold with a 53.

Big Foot traveled to Evergreen Golf Course, Elkhorn, on Thursday for another RVC Mini meet. The Chiefs will compete at the Abbey Springs Invitational Monday, May 9.

Tennis drops dual

Visiting Union Grove swept the singles and handed the Big Foot-Williams Bay boys tennis team a 5-2 nonconference setback Tuesday afternoon.

Posting wins for the Chiefs were juniors Hamilton Smith and Logan Grunow at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-1, and senior ben Malone and junior Nelson Tovar at No. 3, 6-2, 6-4.

Dropping decisions to the Broncos were sophomore Jack Heidenreich at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 0-6; senior Liam McCarthy at No. 2, 3-6, 2-6; junior Alexis Duran at No. 3, 3-6, 0-6; junior Evan Karabas at No. 4, 2-6, 2-6; and the No. 1 doubles team of seniors Michael Heidenreich and Adrian Hernandez, 3-6, 5-7.

Big Foot traveled to East Troy on Tuesday and hosted Edgerton on Thursday. The Chiefs compete at the Stoughton Invitational Saturday, followed by an RVC dual meet May 9 at Whitewater.

Soccer blanks Evansville

The Big Foot-Williams Bay girls soccer team stayed perfect in the RVC April 28 with a 3-0 win over Evansville.

Big Foot improved to 3-0 in conference play and 4-2-1 overall.

Annalise Floody put the Chiefs on the scoreboard with a first-half goal, followed by goals from Morgan Courier and Morgan Grunow in the second half. Penny Brooks had two assists, while Abby Peterson was credited with one.

Goalie Enna Peterson had seven saves.

Big Foot hosted Brodhead Thursday and travels to Belleville for a nonconference matchup Tuesday, May 10.
