An offensive flurry Tuesday afternoon extended the Big Foot baseball team’s season by at least another day.

And also earned the Chiefs a shot at the defending Division 2 state champions in the process.

Big Foot, the fifth seed in the regional, took the lead for good with a four-run third inning en route to a 9-2 victory at Racine Lutheran.

With the win, the Chiefs improved to 9-14 overall and sent them to a second-round matchup Wednesday at top-seed and 2014 champion Jefferson.

The winner Wednesday advanced to a regional final Friday against either No. 2 seed East Troy or No. 3 seed Catholic Memorial. The sectional round is set for next Tuesday, June 9, at Mayville, with semifinal games set for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the finals at 5 p.m.

In the opener Tuesday, the Chiefs kept their bats going after the big third inning to break things open.

Big Foot scored two runs in the fourth and fifth and one more in the sixth to put the game away.

Chandler Hehr led the offensive attack with three hits, a run scored and an RBI, followed by Jack Senft with two hits and three runs scored, Zak Greco with two hits, a run scored and an RBI and Mark Schauf with two hits and a run scored.

Alex Landers chipped in with a hit, a run scored and two RBI, while Brandon Hausner had a hit and two RBI and Connor McCarthy a hit and an RBI.

Earning the complete-game win was Hehr, who allowed six hits, one earned run, two walks and struck out six.

Big Foot closed its regular season earlier in the week with a 4-2 non-conference win at Delavan-Darien.

The Chiefs trailed throughout the game until the seventh, when they pushed three runs across the plate to pull out the late-inning win.

Hausner had three hits and two RBI, followed by Schauf with two hits and a run scored and Landers with a hit and a run scored. Hehr and Brendan Kelley each chipped in with a hit.

Hehr worked four innings, and allowed six hits, two earned runs, three walks and struck out two, while Hausner allowed two hits and struck out two in three innings.
