A Division 2 sectional trip for the No. 2 Big Foot-Williams Bay boys tennis duo of Christian Munoz and Michael Heidenreich had split results Wednesday afternoon.

The pair opened on a strong note with a win in the first round, but fell in the championship and saw their 2015 season come to a close.

Munoz-Heidenreich, the Chiefs’ lone entry into the sectional, finished the spring at 17-4 overall. They defeated the Grafton team of Tommy Makela and Sam Herlache 6-2, 6-4 in the first round, but fell 2-6, 3-6 to the Edgewood team of Thomas Thelen and Daniel Garlock in the finals.

Teams and individuals who play in the second flight must finish first to advance to the state tournament.

Munoz-Heidenreich earned their sectional trip with a pair of wins Tuesday at the Big Foot Subsectional.

They defeated East Troy’s Jordan and Jared Paullin 6-1, 6-0, followed by a 6-3, 6-4 win over Whitewater’s Forrest Spear and Chamath Gunawardena.

All four Big Foot singles players won their opening-round matches, but fell in the second.

Senior Nico Tovar defeated Delavan’s Juan Rocha at No. 1 singles 6-4, 2-6 (10-8), but fell 1-6, 1-6 to Edgewood’s Cecil Lingard; junior Michael Butler defeated Delavan’s Julian Moralez 6-1, 7-5, but fell 1-6, 0-6 to Edgewood’s Noah Colletti; freshman Jack Heidenreich defeated Jefferson’s Nathan Poser 6-2, 6-1, but fell 0-6, 0-6 to McFarland’s Josh Bolstad; and junior Liam McCarthy defeated Monroe’s Rhett Katzenberger 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, but fell 0-6, 0-6 to Edgewood’s Connor Maloney.

The Chiefs’ No. 1 doubles team of seniors Nick Klesmith and Will Huerth fell 6-7 (3), 7-5, 2-6, to Whitewater’s Josh Nast and Brodie Runez, while the No. 3 team of senior J.P. Canizales and junior Adrian Hernandez split their two matches.

Canizales-Hernandez defeated Jefferson’s Nicholas Hoover 6-3, 6-1, but dropped a 3-6, 1-6 decision to McFarland’s Mason Grady and Thor Spilde.
