The 2014-2015 season will last at least one more week for two Big Foot-Williams Bay wrestlers.

Both Travis Berryman (106) and Will Utesch (220) finished second at Saturday’s WIAA Division 2 East Troy Regional to advance to this weekend’s Milwaukee Lutheran Sectional.

The Chiefs were fifth overall in the team standings with 84 points.

Wisconsin Lutheran won the team title with 282 points, followed by Whitewater with 193, East Troy the 183, Catholic Memorial with 152 and the Chiefs.

Jefferson was sixth with 71 points, while Milwaukee Lutheran was seventh with 60.

Utesch, ranked seventh in the latest Crossface Magazine Division 2 poll, needed just 50 seconds to dispatch Catholic Memorial’s Ronnie Driscoll and advance to the finals.

In that contest, Utesch met the state’s second-ranked 220 pounder, Wisconsin Lutheran’s Bryce Roberts, and suffered a 14-4 major decision setback.

The two-match split left Utesch at 31-5 overall.

Berryman (33-10 overall) rolled past East Troy’s Joe Moede by major decision 16-3 in the semifinals, but fell 7-1 to Wisconsin Lutheran’s Tyler Roecker in the championship round.

Big Foot also had two third-place finishes that fell just short of the sectional. The top two finishers in each weight class advanced.

Placing third were James Welsh (120) and Ronald Weber (126).

Welsh, who finished at 20-13, lost 6-0 to Whitewater’s Irving Sedano, but bounced back to pin Catholic Memorial’s DeAnthony Kess in 3:35 to clinch third.

Welsh didn’t receive a wrestle back, so his day and season were done.

Weber (22-10) suffered a similar fate, as he lost by pin in 3:35 to Jefferson’s Nathan Roth, but pinned Catholic Memorial’s Chris Else in 1:33. Weber also didn’t receive a wrestle back.

Big Foot’s other top effort came from Mickey Setteducate (152), who finished fourth and closed his season at 25-10 overall. Setteducate pinned Jefferson’s Brendan Smith in 3:02 before he lost his next two matches.

Also competing for the Chiefs were Titus Frederick (113) and Logan Chase (132), who each lost their only match of the day.

The sectional action for both Berryman and Utesch begins at 9:30 a.m. The top three finishers in each weight class advance to the state tournament at the Kohl Center, Madison, next weekend.
