Elk swimmers win state title, break school records

The Elkhorn Area High School boys swim team ended its season with, arguably, one of the greatest days in program history.

The Elks concluded their season with a state title in the 200-yard freestyle relay and a third-place finish as a team Feb. 21 in the WIAA Division 2 State Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Wisconsin Natatorium in Madison.

Elkhorn also posted five team records.

“Especially because it was their senior year, it was great to see them go out on such a high note,” Elks coach Jamie Richardson said. “This whole season, they’ve been breaking records meet after meet.”

Lucas Koepke, Danny Bush, Hunter Johnson and Willy Pinnow won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:26.16 and posted a school record.
