Elks fall to SLC giant

The Elks played valiantly, but lost to Burlington in three sets Aug. 31 in a Southern Lakes Conference girls high school volleyball dual meet at Burlington.

Elkhorn played at home Tuesday in a triangular against Big Foot and Williams Bay. The Elks play at home today against Wilmot in a SLC dual meet.

The Elks lost to Burlington 25-11, 25-14, 25-11. The Demons are ranked ninth in Division 1 in the latest Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association state poll.

“Overall, we fought hard, but did not have enough in the end,” Elks coach Justin Diderrich said. “At this stage of the season, it was a tall order to go into Burlington and take down the “giant.” We now see where we want to be, and have to work in order to achieve our ultimate goal.

Adrienne Bain finished with 10 assists against the Demons. Kate Passler tallied four kills

Bain finished with 12 assists in the Elks’ Aug. 29 non-conference victory at Clinton. Elkhorn beat Clinton in four sets. The Elks opened with a 25-14 victory in the first set.

Clinton won the second set 25-17 before Elkhorn won the third set 25-17 and the fourth set 25-10 to take the match.

Morgan Hunter tallied 12 kills. Sarah Rychlak finished with 19 kills, and Bain and Emily Ellsworth each finished with 17.
