Olivia May scored four goals and led the Elkhorn Area High School girls soccer team to a 6-1 non-conference victory April 23 at Stoughton.

May scored two goals in the Elks’ 9-0 non-conference win April 21 at home against Kenosha Bradford and scored two in a 3-3 non-conference draw April 19 at home against Big Foot/Williams Bay.

Elkhorn (8-0-2) played Shoreland Lutheran (4-2-1) Tuesday at Somers in a non-conference match and open Southern Lakes Conference play today at home against Waterford (2-3).

According to WisSports.net, May leads the state in goals with 23 and in overall scoring with 52 points. May has six assists this season.

“She’s just been on a tear,” Elks coach BZ Kayser said. “She’s been scoring a lot of goals, and she’s playing really well for us.”

Megan Skoczylas scored two goals for the Elks against Stoughton (2-4).

The Elks led Bradford 4-0 at halftime. May, Skoczylas, A Gonzalez and Cameron Jacobson scored in the first half and Cailin Jacobs, Leesa Sesing, May, Alex Moreno and Kayla Malsch tallied goals in the second half.

“Everything was just clicking that game,” Elks coach BZ Kayser said. “We had a lot of things going. Everything seemed to be working well.”

Kayser said the matches against Bradford (2-4-1) and Stoughton allowed for rest and for substitutes to see the pitch.

“The last two matches have been really good,” Kayser said. “We got a lot of people playing time. We had two weeks in a row of three games each week – games on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.”

Kayser said the Elks should have scored more goals against BFWB. May and Skoczylas scored in the first half and May scored again in the second half.

The Elks allowed two goals within a minute in the second half to allow BFWB to tie the match.”

“We struggled a little bit with Big Foot,” Kayser said. “We didn’t lose, but we took our foot off the gas. All in all, I think it was a good learning experience early in the season.”
