The Elkhorn Area High School baseball team displayed the ability to rebound after a loss in its 2-1 May 14 Southern Lakes Conference win at Burlington.

The Demons beat the Elks 5-0 May 12 in SLC action at Elkhorn. The Elks lost 8-7 to Big Foot May 15 at home in a non-conference game.

The Elks (4-13, 2-8 SLC) played Tuesday at SLC rival Delavan-Darien (7-11, 3-9 SLC), and play the Comets again today at home. Elkhorn plays Beloit Memorial (13-7) Friday at home in a non-conference game.

“The kids bounced back,” Elks coach Jon Anzalone said of the victory against Burlington. “One thing we’re seeing is they’re not willing to give up, or stop working and learning and putting it together.”

Elkhorn’s Nik Kimball pitched a complete game against the Demons (9-9, 5-6 SLC). Kimball allowed four hits and struck out six.

Elkhorn scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning after Burlington tied the score at 1-1 in the third inning. The Elks took a 1-0 lead with a run in the first inning.

Lucas Harding finished with two of the Elks’ six hits.

The Elks rallied for three runs in the fifth inning but fell short in the loss to Big Foot (7-12).
