The Elkhorn Area High School boys golf team posted a season-low team score and finished seventh May 5 in a Southern Lakes Conference Major at Delbrook Golf Course in Delavan.

The Elks posted a four-man team score of 359 over 18 holes. Badger won the major with a team score of 309.

“It was back-to-back good rounds, after we played at Beloit,” Elks coach Steve Fisher said. “We played well at Delbrook.”

The Elks posted a team score of 368 strokes over 18 holes and finished 12th out of 20 teams May 1 at the Beloit Invitational at Krueger-Haskell Golf Course in Beloit.

“More and more, we’re limiting those big numbers on holes,” Fisher said. “We’re staying around bogey golf, and if there’s a mistake or two, it’s not really killing our score.”

Troy Steinfest led the Elks with an 84 and finished 12th at Delbrook.

“That’s a little high for him,” Fisher said. “We’d like to see him in the low 80s. If he does that, and the other guys help out, that obviously helps the team score.”

Alex Balistrieri carded a 90 and Grady Welsh finished at 92. Kyle Schoenberg finished at 93 and Liam Ahler posted a 105.

Burlington’s Justin Meseberg finished with a 75 and won individual medalist honors. The Demons finished second with a team total of 339.

Wilmot finished third (341), Union Grove fourth (342) and Westosha fifth (342). Waterford finished sixth (349) and Delavan-Darien eighth (360).

The Elks played Monday in an invitational at Abbey Springs Golf Course in Fontana, and play today at Burlington’s Brown’s Lake Golf Course in the fourth SLC Major of the season.

The Elks play Friday in an invitational at Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville.
