Girls basketball players named to All-RVC teams

Three members of the East Troy girls basketball team recently earned All-Rock Valley Conference North Division honors.

Leading the trio was sophomore Erin Rice, who was named to the second team. She was joined by sophomore Mackenzie Lindow and senior Maddie Rosin, who were named honorable mention.

Rice led the Trojans in points with 292 (13.3 per game), in 3-pointers with 36 (tied with Rosin) and in made free throws (97).

She also was second in rebounds (120) and had 29 assists and 27 steals.

Lindow led the Trojans in assists (73) and steals (57), was second in points (285 (12.4) and free throws (90) and third in 3-pointers (25).

Rosin was second in assists (52) and steals (34) to go with her team-leading 36 made 3-pointers. She scored 141 points, good for 6.1 per game.

The Trojans finished the season at 10-13 overall and 6-10 in the RVC. Whitewater, led by North Division Player of the Year Myriama Smith-Traore, finished a perfect 16-0 in conference play.

Smith-Traore, an NCAA Division I recruit who is headed to Marquette University, also was a first-team, All-State pick in Division 3 by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. She finished her Whitewater career with 1,393 points, 1,186 rebounds and 377 blocks.

Brodhead’s Erin Nyhus was the South Division player of the year. Big Foot’s Rick Schoenbeck, Clinton’s Michael Powers and Beloit Turner’s Nick Faralli shared coach of the year honors in the South Division.

Second team—Callie Morrison (jr., Jefferson), Erin Rice (soph., East Troy), Ashlyn Oren (jr., Edgerton), Katie Rounds (jr., McFarland).

Honorable mention—Leah Wagner (Evansville); Ali Ketterhagen, Miranda Reynolds (Whitewater); Brooke Lonigro, Mary Zahn (McFarland); Parker Fetherston (Jefferson); Mackenzie Lindow, Maddie Rosin (East Troy); Jessica Danks, Kathleen Reilly (Edgerton).
