In all six losses to visiting Whitewater last week, the East Troy High School wrestling team was beaten by pinfall.

But those 36 points were all the Trojans would allow –and they had just enough to pull off the Rock Valley Conference dual meet in the end.

East Troy posted eight wins on the mat to edge the Whippets 39-36. Four of those victories came via pinfall.

Earning victories for the Trojans were Joe Moede (106), 8-6 over Tyler Gamble; Cody Vogel (120), by pin in 33 seconds over Tommy Cashman; Gabe Braam (132), by major decision 11-1 over Michael Fernandez; Griffin Baker (138), by pin in four minutes over Tyler Lippens;

Andy Strey (145), by pin in 1:09 over Jose Alvarez; Sam Foley (152), by major decision 13-2 over Victor Fernandez; Jeremy Dedick (170), by major decision 14-6 over Max Reid; and Chris Storandt (195), by pin in three minutes over Adrian Casillas.

Dropping pinfall decisions to Whitewater were Kyle Storandt (285), in 2:36 to Daniel Soto; Albert Fischer (113), in 3:08 to Jameson Hutchins; Devin Peterson (126), in 2:40 to Irving Sedano; Mario Hernandez (160), in 5:16 to James Ehlen; Travis Cadman (182), in 2:36 to Nathan Barrett; and Nathan Dallas (220), in 1:11 to Tommy DuVal.

East Troy travels to the Fort Atkinson Invitational Saturday, Jan. 24. Joining the Trojans are Kenosha Tremper, Watertown, Pewaukee, Waterford, Slinger, Cedarburg, Sun Prairie, Brodhead, Edgerton, Fort Atkinson, Johnson Creek, Plymouth and Fort Atkinson.

Following the invite, the Trojans will return to RVC dual meet action next Monday, Jan. 26, when they travel to Beloit Turner.
