Wrestling team drops meet to Evansville

The East Troy High School wrestling team managed just four victories on the mat in a 52-14 Rock Valley Conference dual meet loss last week at Evansville.

East Troy was back in non-conference action Monday night against visiting Janesville Craig. Results were unavailable this week.

Posting victories for the Trojans were Andy Strey (145), Jeremy Dedick (160), Kyle Storandt (285) and Cody Vogel (120).

Strey defeated his opponent 8-2, while Dedick and Vogel recorded wins by majority decisions of 10-2 and 12-3, respectively. Storandt won his match 5-3.

Dropping matches in the dual were Devin Peterson (126), by pin in 1:26; Gabe Braam (132), by pin in 3:39; Griffin Baker (138), 8-5; Mario Hernandez (170), by pin in 1:34; Chris Storandt (195), by major decision 11-1; Nathan Dallas (220), by pin in 1:56; Joe Moede (106), 13-8; and Albert Fischer (113), by pin in 3:25.

East Troy also forfeited matches at 152 and 182 pounds.

Following Monday’s dual, the Trojans will compete in the annual two-day Mid-States Tournament Dec. 29 and 30 on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus.
