The Delavan-Darien High School boys basketball team suffered two losses last week, including a three-point loss to Southern Lakes Conference rival Elkhorn.

The Comets (2-13) lost 52-49 last Friday to Elkhorn, despite a last-second attempt to tie it up and send it into overtime and then lost a non-conference game to Big Foot on Saturday, 65-61.

In Elkhorn, the Elks controlled the game most of the way, but the Comets kept it close throughout, almost battling back to a tie. With less than two seconds left, the Elks held on to a three-point advantage, and the Comets called a timeout.

With a perfectly scripted inbounds play, John Damrow threw it to half court where Ethan Cesarz grabbed it and threw it to Isiah Ramos for a three-point shot that rattled in and out, giving the Elks the 52-49 win.

In the first half the Elks outscored the Comets 28-22, but the Comets outscored the Elks 27-24 in the second half.

Isiah Ramos paced the Comets with 13 points, William Brown had nine points and Damrow, Cesarz, Jesse Collins and Stephen Rodriguez had six points each.

Saturday night at home the Comets hosted the Chiefs and, despite a 26-24 halftime lead for the Comets, they couldn’t hold on and went on for the 65-61 loss.

Brown had 18 points, Isiah Ramos added 14, Rodriguez had 11, Collins added 10 and Damrow finished with seven.

The Comets travel to Wilmot Friday night for a 6 p.m. game and Tuesday will host Lake Geneva Badger at 7 p.m.
