Wrestlers start strong

Team 2-0 overall after wins over Palmyra and Parkview Tuesday

The Big Foot-Williams Bay wrestling team got its 2014-2015 season off to a strong start Tuesday night.

Big Foot hosted Palmyra-Eagle and Parkview in a Rock Valley Conference double dual meet, and emerged with a pair of solid victories.

The Chiefs now are 2-0 overall after they beat Parkview 48-24 and Palmyra 54-23.

Big Foot posted six victories on the mat against Parkview.

Recording pinfall wins were Evan Graham (285), in 43 seconds; Kent Myerson (113), in 5:28; Ronald Weber (126), in 3:52; Robert Lliguichuzhca (145), in 1:31; Mickey Setteducate (152), in 2:16; and Peter Briggs (160), in 46 seconds.

Big Foot also received forfeit victories at 220, 106 and 120 pounds. The Chiefs lost by forfeit at 195, 170 and 182 pounds and double forfeits were recorded at 132 and 138 pounds.

All the Chiefs’ victories against Palmyra also came via pinfall.

Posting wins on the mat were Will Utesch (220), in 3:15; Travis Berryman (120), in 48 seconds; Weber (126), in 39 seconds; Lliguichuzhca (145), in 1:07; Setteducate (152), in 3:37; and Briggs (160), in just 19 seconds.

In addition, the Chiefs received forfeit wins at 285, 106 and 113 pounds. Losses by forfeit were recorded at 132, 170, 182 and 195 pounds, while both teams received forfeits at 138 pounds.

Big Foot returns to action this weekend when it travels to the Edgerton Invitational Saturday morning. The Chiefs then will be idle until Dec. 20, when they compete in the Mt. Horeb Invitational.
