Dedick, Vogel lead the way, going 5-0 for the day

The East Troy High School wrestling team’s 2014-15 debut Saturday was a mixed bag of results.
On the good side, the Trojans recorded two dual victories with decisions of 53-25 over Indian Trails Academy and 50-26 over Green Bay West.
But the Trojans couldn’t maintain that momentum throughout, as they fell 41-24 to Harvard (Ill.), 51-19 to Whitnall-Greendale and 56-24 to West Allis Central.
The Trojans now are 2-3 overall.
Leading the way were a pair of 5-0 efforts, as Cody Vogel (120) and Jeremy Dedick (170) ran the table.
Vogel recorded thee pins and two decisions during the day. He opened with a technical fall 19-0 victory over ITA, followed by a pinfall win in 1:55 over Green Bay West.
Against Harvard, Vogel won 9-2, followed by pinfall wins in 58 seconds and 5:58 over Whitnall and West Allis Central, respectively.
Dedick’s perfect day began with a pinfal win in 2:49 over ITA, followed by a 19-4 technical fall victory over Green Bay West. He ended the tournament with a 10-4 win over Harvard, a 12-6 victory over Whitnall and a pin in 1:34 over West Allis Central.
Also posting wins against ITA were Griffin Baker (138), by pinfall, time not posted; Andy Strey (152), by pin in 2:00; Travis Cadman (182), by pin in 1:50; and Chris Storandt (195), by pin in 1:54.
Adding victories over Green Bay were Gabe Braam (132), by pin in 1:03; Samuel Foley (152), by pin in 2:52; Cadman (182), by pin in 3:25; and Kyle Storandt (285), 7-0.
Braam (132), Strey (145) and Cadman (182) each had victories against Harvard to go with the wins by Vogel and Dedick.
Braam won 4-0, Strey by pinfall in just 12 seconds and Cadman 12-5.
Also earning wins against Whitnall were Braam (132), 8-2; Strey (145), 8-2; and Kyle Storandt (285), by major decision 11-0.
Strey (145) pinned his West Allis Central opponent in four minutes, while Kyle Storandt won in 2:51.
East Troy is back in action Thursday night with a non-conference dual meet against visiting Waukesha North. The Trojans travel North to the Bay Port Invitational Saturday.
