LILA EVENSON

Lila Alta Evenson (nee Thompson), born on July 18, 1925, in Lansboro, Minnesota, peacefully departed this world on Jan. 16, 2024, at the age of 98, after a brief illness.

In 1952, Lila married Darroll ‘Swede’ Evenson in Lansboro, Minnesota, and shortly thereafter relocated to Elkhorn, where they created a home filled with warmth and laughter. A people person, Lila enjoyed the social fabric of friends and family in her neighborhood and throughout Elkhorn.

A longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lila delighted in being one of the ‘church ladies’ in her congregation for many years. She and Swede were one of the original members of Willow Run Resort Park outside Elkhorn, a place that became a haven for family gatherings and shared memories. Lila worked at several jobs over the years but took special pride as being a cook for Lakeland School.

Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Swede, and son, Darroll Wayne Evenson Jr. as well as her older sister, Eileen Havens.

Lila is survived by her loving children, Marsha (John Zedler) Barry and Karen (Rene) Ravesteijn. Her memory lives on through her grandchildren, Michael (Kim) Barry, Melissa Barry, Hailey Ravesteijn, Celeste Ravesteijn, and Chase (Sarah) Ravesteijn. She is further survived by five great-grandchildren, Josie, Jacob, Chelsea, Amelia, and Piper. She delighted in visits from them all.

A memorial service to celebrate Lila’s life will be held at a later time most likely over the summer.

Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home and Crematory assisted Lila’s family with her arrangements.
