DIANE K. KUMAN

Our amazing Mom and precious wife, Diane K. Kuman, passed away suddenly Dec. 28, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness.

Diane was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on March 23, 1958, to parents John R. and Patricia Lindsay. She spent most of her childhood in Racine until the time of her dad’s death in 1972, when she moved to the Chicago area and graduated from Oak Park-River Forest High School in 1976.

Diane lived and worked in the Northlake, Illinois, area until after the birth of her only son, Mark, when she relocated to Elkhorn in 1991. Diane spent her career in account management and customer service, most recently as the logistics coordinator at Smooth Operators in Darien.

She had an amazing work ethic and loved her co-workers and customers, always cultivating relationships and friendships that lasted throughout her life. People loved Diane; she had a natural gift with people, was an amazing listener, had an incredible sense of humor, and treasured her family and friends.

Alongside her husband, Wayne, Diane worked incredibly hard her entire life to raise her son, Mark. She loved classic rock-n-roll (especially the Beatles, Grand Funk, Led Zeppelin and Rod Stewart), having accumulated one of the most enviable collections of vinyl over the years. One of her favorite activities was being at home cleaning while her music was playing throughout the house over her coveted surround sound system.

Diane was looking forward to retiring at the end of 2024 to spend more time with her family, especially her darling adorable 1-year old grandson, Colin. Colin was the light of her life and loved his GiGi.

Diane is survived by her husband of 33 years, Wayne Taft; son, Mark Kuman (Diane) and cherished grandson, Colin; sisters, Pat Druschke, Pam Lengling (Tom); brothers, Jack Lindsay (Linda), Doug Lindsay (Beth); brothers-in-law, Andy Taft (Carmen) and Troy Taft; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends whom she adored.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Patricia; and brother-in-law, Tom Druschke.

Diane will be sadly missed by so many with whom she came in contact. She lit up a room, always had a smile to greet you with, and a big hug. You were taken from us way too soon.

Memorial service will be 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, at Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service. Haase-Lockwood and Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory are serving the Kuman family.
