OPAL CHAPLO

Opal C. Chaplo was born June 26, 1926, in Appleton, to Oscar and Clara (Aarud) Ahlm.

She passed away peacefully July 27, 2023, at Arbor Village in Lake Geneva.

Opal would always say she had enjoyed a wonderful life and was truly excited to celebrate her 97th birthday this past June. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, but her main job and love was homemaker, and she was very good at it.

She provided a home filled with affection, joy, laughter, and love to her husband and children. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She treasured every minute she spent with them and there were many. Her home was filled with Legos, Barbie’s, baby dolls, games, pool toys, imagination time and lots and lots of treats.

She was grateful to watch as they grew and she was so very proud of the adults they had become. Her most recent joy was the birth of her first great grandchild, Poppy Opal. She spent lots of time visiting with Poppy on video chat.

She enjoyed her later years at Arbor Village making friends while also winning at bingo and dancing at Thirsty Thursday. Her family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Arbor Village for being so wonderful and caring.

Opal is survived by her children, Dennis Chaplo and Donna (Jerry) Duncan; grandchildren, Matthew Chaplo, Joshua (Alicia) Chaplo, Shannon Chaplo, Corrine (Anit) Patel, Jared (Kelsey) Duncan, and Rachel (Dakota) Beran; great granddaughter, Poppy Opal Patel; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Chaplo; son, David Chaplo; brothers, Allen Ahlm and Russell (Minnie) Ahlm; as well as a sister, Audrey (Emil) Duris.

A visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 4, at Toynton’s Walworth Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St., from 5 until 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 125 Pearl St., Sharon at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Clinton Township.
