Evelyn F. Kniep, of East Troy, joined her husband in Heaven Feb. 27, 2022, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center at the age of 90-1/2 years. She was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Burlington, to the late Paul and Marcella (nee Lois) Koenen.
Evelyn was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Burlington.
She met her husband Jim. They were married Aug. 16, 1952, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons and remained so for a wonderful 66 years until Jim’s passing in 2019.
Evelyn was a proud and devoted mother of five children, raising and caring for them, her husband and maintaining their home on the family farm.
Evelyn was an active member of the Walworth County Homemakers Association, a fan of the Brewers, Packers and Badgers and she might have asked about the weather conditions in your area.
For enjoyment, Evelyn was known to be a crossword and sudoku aficionado or perhaps she would play a few hands of sheepshead with family and friends.
Most notable however, was Evelyn’s deep love and appreciation for her children and endless pride and love for each new grandchild as they are born into the family.
Evelyn’s family legacy is her children, Thomas (Christine) of Oshkosh, JoAnn (Robert) Hockenberry, of Pine, Colorado, Gary Kniep of Evansdale, Indiana, Robert (Christine) Kniep of Burlington, and Joseph (Jeanne) Kniep of Greenville; grandchildren, Magdalene (Nick) Flinner, Grace (Jarrod) Diehm, Claire (Jacob) Henckel, Marissa (Kyle) McClone, Katie Rezac and Peter (Nichole) Kniep; great-grandchildren, Hailey Rezac, Isabella Flinner, Levi Flinner, Adalyn McClone, Abigail Henckel, Cooper McClone, Cecilia Diehm and Theo Kniep; sisters, Mary Betzig and Jean (Jim) Weber; sister-in-law, MaryAnne Kniep. Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and many, many friends also survive her.
She was further preceded in death by her brother, Robert Koenen.
As per her wishes, services are postponed. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to the staff at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center for their special care of Evelyn.
Legacy Funeral Services of East Troy has the honor of serving the family.
