MILDRED SAWYER

      Mildred K. Sawyer, 84, a longtime resident of Sharon, Elkhorn and Delavan, passed away to eternal life on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Ridgestone Village in Delavan.

She was born on July 11, 1936, to Walter and Eva (Kutschat) Knackstedt in Chicago, the third of four daughters.

Mildred is survived by her children, Cindy (Don) Hafferkamp, Cheryl (Jon) Smith and Curt (Laura) Sawyer; grandchildren, Alex, Amber, Ryan, CJ (Raven), Craig (Naomi), Sheldon, Serenity, Marissa and Devin; brothers-in-law, Ray Sawyer and John Noufrios; cousin, Harold (Su) Steppuhn; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Willard Jackson Alsup; sisters, Ruth Knackstedt, Esther Knackstedt and Nancy Noufrios; and cousin, Herbert Kutschat.

Mildred was employed for many years at Swiss Tech and Society Assets. She was accomplished in knitting and crochet, with an extensive display of Walworth County Fair ribbons. Memories of White Elephant gift exchanges and family cookouts were some of Mildred’s recent happiest moments.

A memorial gathering will be held at Betzer-Lazarczyk Funeral Home in Delavan, from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, July 11, with a memorial service at 2 p.m. and a continued celebration of life at Congdon Park beginning at 3 p.m.

Private interment will be in Spring Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Aurora Hospice, Ridgestone in Delavan or Congdon Gardens would be appreciated.
