DENNIS MICHAEL RUE

      Dennis “Coach” Michael Rue, 61, of Cambridge, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at Sienna Crest in Fort Atkinson.

He was born in Fort Atkinson Sept. 7, 1955, to Richard Arthur and Mary Jane (Televik) Rue. He grew up in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

He worked as a track and field coach for Whitewater High School and for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He also served as a basketball referee for area schools.

He loved coaching and pushing his athletes to reach their highest abilities. Many of his athletes competed nationally. He also enjoyed sports and had the unique ability to remember statistics for a variety of teams.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Jane Rue of Cambridge; daughter, Mandy (Tim) Mayek of Stevens Point; grandchildren, Camden and Cole; siblings, Randy Rue, Dwayne Rue, and David (Kristin) Rue all of Cambridge; niece, Josephine Rue; and two nephews, Jackson and Patrick Rue.

His father, Richard and a brother, Robert, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Nitardy Funeral Home, 208 N. Park Street in Cambridge, with the Rev. Jennifer Jelinek officiating.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. on Friday at the Nitardy Funeral Home in Cambridge until the time of the services.
