Joseph C. Hoelzel, 82, from Port Republic, Va., died May 30, 2017, at ManorCare in Platteville.
He had recently moved to the area to be closer to his children. He was born on May 23, 1935, in Beloit to Albert and Lydia (Langer) Hoelzel.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954. He farmed in the Delavan area until moving to Port Republic, Va., in 1975. In 2015, he returned to Wisconsin and resided with his son Tim in Blanchardville.
He is survived by his four children, Deb (Bill) Wilson, of Livingston, Joe (Andrea) Hoelzel, of Minneapolis, Laurie (Don) Kirschbaum, of Fennimore, and Tim (Cathy) Hoelzel, of Blanchardville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pat Beanie, of Delavan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie; brother, Pete Hoelzel; and sister, Bertha Kutz.
At request of the family, no funeral services will be at this time. The Larson Family Funeral Home of Fennimore is assisting the family.
