NELLIE J. JENINGA

      Nellie Johanna Jeninga, 81, of Delavan, died May 2, 2017, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.

She was born in Heerlen, Netherlands, on Dec. 9, 1935, to Willem and Lina Kalma. She married Ted Jeninga on July 26, 1958, in Toronto, Canada. They moved to Delavan in 1961 to be close to the Jeninga family. She was mostly employed as a food server at Millie’s Pancake Haus, Delavan House Hotel, and her last and most important job as a food service director at Inspiration Ministries with her Christian family. She is a longtime member of the Delavan Christian Reformed Church.

She is survived by four children, Belinda (Mike) Jeske and their three children, John (Pam) Jeninga and their three children, Fred (Joni) Jeninga and their three children, and Liane (Terry) Furseth and their son; two special grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; her sister, Greetje Van Manen, of Vuren, Netherlands; and family in the Netherlands, Canada and the United States.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; and her parents.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Delavan Christian Reformed Church, 850 Oak St. in Delavan with the Rev. Tim Kooiman officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. Memorials can be directed to Delavan Christian School.

Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan is assisting the family.
