Catherine “Cathy” A. (Ellsworth) Harrington, 82, of Elkhorn, died March 6, 2017, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn following a brief illness.
She was born July 21, 1934, in Elkhorn, to the late Lynn and Lorna (Taylor) Ellsworth. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkhorn serving as treasurer, financial secretary and on many other committees. She was a past member of the Elkhorn Jr. Women’s Club, bridge clubs, Red Hat Society, Walworth Co. Sr. Travel Club and had volunteered with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, and Meals on Wheels. She was employed for 23 years as Account Clerk at Lakeland School of Walworth Co. She enjoyed reading, baking, cooking, taking care of her home, her cat and most of all, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, David (Suzanne) Harrington of Elkhorn and Sue Oakes of Elkhorn; grandchildren, Amanda Oakes and Joshua Oakes; step-granddaughter, Vanessa (Josh) Werner; brother, Kenneth Ellsworth; step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and long time friend, Homer Gunyon. She was preceded in death by parents; son, Donald; sister, Bernice (Clarence) Vogt and sister-in-law, Mary Ellsworth.
Services were Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 111 N Broad St. Elkhorn, with Rev. William McBride officiating. Private inurnment will be at Hazel Ridge Cemetery, Elkhorn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Elkhorn.
