Barbara A. (Clauer) Nielsen, 86, of Elkhorn, died March 6, 2017, at Arbor Village in Lake Geneva.
She was born Aug. 4, 1930 in Elkhorn to the late George R. and Mary (Hoffmann) Clauer. She graduated from Elkhorn Area High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Robert W. Nielsen on April 11, 1984, at Sugar Creek Lutheran Church. Robert preceded her in death on June 1, 1990.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, quilting, needle work and gardening. She owned and operated “It’s A Stitch” from 1974 to 1992 in Elkhorn. Spending time with family and friends meant everything to Barbara.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Richard) Kelman of Lake Geneva; son-in-law, Robert Grenzow of Sumas, Wash.; granddaughter, Amanda Grenzow of Sumas, Wash.; sister-in-law, Charlotte Clauer of Elkhorn, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Karen Grenzow; and brother, Toby Clauer.
Services were March 10 at Sugar Creek Lutheran Church, N5690 Cobblestone Rd Elkhorn, with the Rev. Dick Inglett officiating. Inurnment was at Sugar Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sugar Creek Lutheran Church.
