MARGARET A. DAWSON

Margaret Ann (Britt) Dawson, 85, of Delavan, passed away peacefully Feb. 6, 2017, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.

She was born Sept. 21, 1931, in Chicago to William and Martha (Gubbins) Britt.

She married Burle M. Dawson on Sept. 26, 1953, at the Fontana Community Church in Fontana.

She assisted in the operation of Dawson Jewelers in Walworth from 1955 to 1983. Margaret and Burle often traveled to the Northwoods of Wisconsin where they owned a home on Birch Lake in Vilas County. They spent their time fishing and enjoying the outdoors.

She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Walworth where she devoted her time as treasurer and deacon. She enjoyed quilting for friends and family and quilted with a charity quilting group at Immanuel United Church of Christ called Lydia’s Helpers. When Margaret wasn’t volunteering at Immanuel United Church of Christ or quilting, she enthusiastically cheered on the Green Bay Packers.

She is preceeded in death by husband, Burle Dawson; sister, Nancy Folkers; and brother, James Britt.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha (Charles) Voss, of Elkhorn; two grandchildren, Amanda Voss, of West Bend, and Chad Voss, of Janesville; six great-grandchildren; and niece Jean (Jeff) McKinney of Delavan.

The family will receive friends Friday at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Walworth from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon. Burial will be in Walworth Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Immanuel United Church of Christ or Aurora Health Care Foundation.
