RICHARD L. HAVLICK

pe-11%2718%2716-obit-richard-havlick      Richard “Dick” L. Havlik, 89, of Palmyra, died peacefully Nov. 12, 2016 at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc.

He was born on July 17, 1927 the son of the late William and Anna (Hooker) Havlik. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his service, he was united in marriage on April 17, 1954 to Rosezella “Rosie” Hanna in Titoka, Iowa.

Dick was a phone equipment installer for many years for Western Electric. Following his retirement, he worked as a carpenter for Lyle Trader and drove school bus for Lakeland Bus Company in Palmyra. Dick was a very active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Thomas-Holcomb American Legion Post 304 in Palmyra. He was a member of the 40 et 8, honor guard, life member of the VFW and Pioneers, member of the Disabled Veterans of America and ROMEO (retired old men eating out) Club, volunteer driver of VA patients to their doctor appointments, and played sheepshead once a month with a group of guys.

He is survived by his children: Mark (Shari) Havlik of DePere, and Karen Havlik of Palmyra; daughter-in-law Annalisa of Clovis, CA; grandchildren Jim (Jamie) Ellenberger, Kristen (Travis) McEowen, Kristopher, Winter (Charlie) Brown, and Mark; great-grandchildren, Katie and Annie Ellenberger, and Charles Brown.

Dick was loved and will be remembered by other relatives and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie; son, Keith; and brothers, Harold, Donald, and Robert.

Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 313 E. Main St. Palmyra, and on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Palmyra.
