ALICE M. WORDEN

Alice M. Worden, 95, of Brookfield, formerly of Walworth, died Oct. 18, 2016, at Brookdale Manor in Brookfield.

She was born Dec. 14, 1920, in Sharon, the first child of John and Maude Wendt. She graduated from Harvard High School. She married Dale Worden on June 24, 1939, at her parent’s home in Harvard, Ill.

Alice and Dale were married 53 years. They lived in the Harvard, Ill., and Walworth area. They had five children. Alice and Dale appreciated the blessings in their lives and met the challenges of life together.

Alice was a patient and hard-working farm wife and mother, and, in 1952, her family moved to the Town of Walworth. She then worked for many, many years and retired from Iseli Corporation in 1983. Both Alice and Dale were active in the community. Meals-on-Wheels, their church and the Brick Church Cemetery Board of Directors benefitted from their faithful service. Dale died Aug. 23, 1992.

In 2001, Alice moved to Muskego, and remained active with her church there until 2009, when she moved to Brookside Manor in Brookfield, where she continued to share life’s lessons and blessings with her children and their families.

She is survived by four children, Mary Alice Sturgill, of Delavan, Kathryn Shebiel, of Janesville, Thomas Worden, of Pell Lake, and Susan (Ross) Voelker, of Mukwonago; a sister, Edna Wittmus, of Hayward; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great- grandchildren.

Alice’s husband, Dale, and daughter Donna McLemore preceded her in death.

The family thanks the staff at Brookside Manor and Seasons Hospice for the compassionate care provided in their mother’s final weeks.

Services were at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial at Brick Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Toynton Funeral Home is assisting the family.
