JEAN HENNIX

      Jean Hennix, 84, of Lenexa, Kan., died Sept. 30, 2016, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Delavan Lake, to Willis Huntley and Helen Gladus (York) Kauer. She and her husband, Ken, had lived in Illinois, Michigan, Oklahoma and Colorado while Ken was pastoring American Baptist churches and had lived in the Kansas City area for 27 years. She had been the director of the Kansas City Kansas Visitors Bureau for six years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Olathe and had various positions in the American Baptist Women’s Missionary Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Willis Oscar Kauer; and two daughters, Candace Eileen in 1954 and Dale Ellen in 2011. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth L. Hennix; daughter and son-in-law, Timelia and Clinton Rathmell, and grandson, Matthew, all of San Antonio; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and John Henschke, of Bridgeton, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were Monday at Lakeview Village, 9100 Park Street, Lenexa, Kan. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Lakeview Village Foundation.

Porter Funeral Home and Crematory, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kan., is assisting the family.
