DE 7'14'16 OBIT McCarragher      Patricia Griffeth McCarragher, 90, died July 8, 2016, at Rainey Hospice House.

She was born in Belvidere, Ill., on Nov. 30, 1925, to the late Darwin Ira Griffeth and the late Marguerite Dawn Fasset Griffeth James.

Pat’s passion in life was volunteering where she selflessly gave to others. She was co-founder and president of the Illinois organization of Mothers of Twins, co-founder of the Lakeland Animal Welfare Society, an AnMed Cancer Clinic volunteer for 25 years where she received the Volunteer of the Year Award, a member of Extraordinary Women at AnMed in 2006, the motto of which is “Everyday women doing extraordinary things,” a recipient of the Carolina Award in 2007 at Caring for the Carolinas, and recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award in 1999 at Foothills United Way. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her sons, James (Mimi), John (Sharon), Steven (Lynne), and Kevin (HieShun); nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Donald McCarragher; a brother, Darwin Griffeth II; and stepfather, Willard James.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 302 W. Whitner St., Anderson, S.C., 29624, with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Tedder and the Rev. Dr. Alan Madden officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home, 2211 N. Main St., Anderson, S.C., from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
