WILLIAM L. HUSTON

LG 5'19'16 OBIT Huston      William L. Huston, 92, of Silver Lake, passed away May 6, 2016, at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in Union Grove.

He was born May 25, 1923, in Chicago, to the late Patrick and Anastasia (O’Rourke) Huston. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a military policeman. He attended Eureka College where he met Elsyan “Mike” Michaels whom he married March 18, 1949. They settled in Silver Lake, in 1957, where they operated Michaels Manor Nursing Home for many years. Bill also worked for Paul Swartz Nursery from 1957 to 1964, and from 1977 to 1995, he was the general manager for the radio station WMIR of Lake Geneva.

He was a former board member of Wilmot Union High School as well as a trustee for the Village of Silver Lake. Bill was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and spent many childhood days at Wrigley Field. He even tried out for the team as a 16-year-old during an open try-out. He was also a Chicago Bears fan and was able to attend the 1963 Bears championship game against the New York Giants at Wrigley Field. Bill enjoyed bird watching, reading, and watching television programs about animals.

He is survived by three sons, Murphy (Carol) Huston, of Denver, Patrick Huston, of Silver Lake, and Kelly (Patti) Huston, of Silver Lake; a brother, Henry Huston, of Burlington, Vt.; six grandchildren, Sam (Sarah) Huston, Carrie Hogan, Haley (Paul) Evans, Elizabeth (Josh) Suter, Lindsey Huston, and Tyler Huston; seven great-grandchildren, Sadie, Caelee, Greyson, Hudson, Harper, Charley, and Lincoln; and his beloved cat, Lucy. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded by his wife, Elsyan “Mike” in 2012; a brother, and two sisters.

The Huston family wishes to thank Tracy Moffat, Bill’s personal caregiver as well as Vitas Hospice and the VA nursing staff for their help and dedication.

Funeral services and interment will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a veterans organization are appreciated. An online guest book is available at www.strangfh.com.
