MARK J. REHRAUER

Mark Joseph Rehrauer, formerly of Whitewater, died at the Veterans’ Home in Boulder, Nev., Dec. 4, 2015.

Mark, the son of Luke (George) and Lioba Steffes Rehrauer, was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Chilton. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was stationed in the China Burma India theatre and in Saipan and Tinian.

After military service, he attended St. Norbert College, married Frances Schunk in 1947 and graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He also completed post-graduate work at St. Norbert’s.

From 1948 until 1968, he was Human Resources Director for Nicolet Paper in De Pere. He then became Human Resources Director for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he worked until his retirement in 1986.

In 2003, he and Frances moved to Henderson, Nev., where he resided until his move to the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City in July 2014. The priorities in Mark’s life were God, family, and country. He served as parish trustee for St. Boniface Parish, De Pere for 19 years and on the parish council at St. Patrick’s in Whitewater. He also volunteered at the Food Pantry and in other philanthropic endeavors in Whitewater.

Mark was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for over 65 years, serving as Grand Knight, Financial Secretary, District Deputy, and Faithful Navigator. He was a member of Abbot Pennings Council, De Pere, and of the 4th degree Assembly in Fort Atkinson, and in Henderson, Nev.

He is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Sister Ann, Mark, Father Stephen, Luke, and daughter-in-law, Michelle; Father Matthew, and Mary Lee Wegner. He is also survived by his brothers, John and William Rehrauer; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Schunk and Marilyn Rehrauer; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Jan. 4, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Henderson, Nev., with the Rev. Stephen Rehrauer, CSSR and the Rev. Matthew Rehrauer as celebrants. Burial will be at the Veterans’ Cemetery in Boulder, Nev.
