LAVERNE EMLING

LaVerne “Red” Emling, 90, of Black River Falls, died Dec. 7, 2015, at Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls. He was born Sept. 18, 1925 to the late Charles and Julia (Olson) Emling in Abbotsford.

He married Christine Bauman and they were later divorced.

He married Margery Revalinski. They lived in East Troy; then moved to Taylor.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in April 1954.

Through the years, he worked as a milk hauler, farmer, road maintenance, silo builder, Camp Edwards caretaker, and other miscellaneous jobs. In 1979, with the move to Taylor, he “officially” retired.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandy Webster, Chippewa Falls; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Shew. Arizona; stepdaughter-in-law, Betsy Shew, California; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was further preceded in death by his son, Randy; wife, Margery; sisters, Illa Mae Nitz and Marian Western; and son-in-law, James Shew.

Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, at Buswell Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St., Black River Falls. Burial, with full military honors, will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, at Evergreen Quarterline Cemetery, Troy Center.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
