JAMES “JIM” S. SANTY

James “Jim” S. Santy, 69, of Darien, passed away after a courageous six-year battle with cancer on Jan. 1, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Butler, Pa., on Aug. 13, 1945, to Stewart and Irma (Koch) Santy. Jim graduated from Premontre High School in Green Bay in 1963. He then received a bachelor’s degree from St. Norbert College and a master’s degree in school psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He worked in the Delavan-Darien School District from 1971 to 2001.

He married Linda Clark on May 26, 1973. Jim and Linda were very active in the AFS program during the 1990s and hosted three students. He enjoyed traveling, coaching and the Packers. He was extremely active in volunteer work with such organizations as the United Way of Walworth County, Borg Foundation, D-DHS Scholarship Foundation, St. Andrew’s Finance Committee and the Optimist Club.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda; three children, Kari (Sam) Ruder, of Cocoa, Fla., Kim (Justin) Lewis, of McFarland, and Scott Santy, of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren, Zoey, Charlie and Rory Lewis. Jim is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial mass was Sunday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 714 E. Walworth Ave., with the Rev. Angel Anaya officiating. Visitation was Saturday at Monroe Funeral Home. Memorials can be directed to the D-DHS Scholarship Foundation, Borg Foundation, St. Andrew’s Catholic Church,- or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Monroe Funeral Home is assisting the family.
