TOM W. SAWYER

Tom W. Sawyer, 78, of East Troy died Dec. 8, 2014. He was born Feb. 6, 1936 in Milwaukee, to Wilfred and Blanche (Werner) Sawyer.

He attended school in East Troy and received a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and in business from UW-Milwaukee.

He married his late wife Karin (Koegel) in October of 1962. They were lifelong residents of East Troy.

He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and participated in numerous groups in the community, such as the East Troy Lions Club as past president and Melvin Jones Fellow, FFA, Masonic Lodge, East Troy American Legion, NRA and the Triangle Sportsman’s Club.

He had a love for East Troy High School basketball, being named a lifetime member of East Troy All Sports Booster Club. Agricultural farming (having a Grand Champion steer in high school), hunting and fishing were all a big part on his life. He was also known as an awesome chicken plucker.

Survivors include his children, Becka (Al) Nadow, John (Karen), Tim (Laura), Karl and Kathleen (Jake) Ferry; grandchildren, A.J., Nathan, Kayla, Lukas, Miranda, Ben, Amelia, Amber, Lauren and Jacob; great-grandchild, Aiden; sister, Beverly (Chuck) Franzke; nieces, Diane (Patrick) Wellnitz and Barbara Olson; and special friends, Ken, Tim and Ryan. Other relatives and many friends also survive him.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Legacy Funeral Services, 2974 Main St., East Troy. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment in Oak Ridge Cemetery, East Troy, will follow.
