HARRY C. REED

Harry C. Reed, 82, went to his heavenly home on Nov. 8, 2014, at his home in East Troy, surrounded by his loving family.

Harry was born and raised in Chicago. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He spent more than 30 years with Illinois Bell and an additional six years with Boeing.

Harry married Bonnie Burke June 1, 1957, raising their four children in a Chicago suburb and was a diehard Chicago Bears and Blackhawks fan.

Following retirement, Harry moved to north Idaho where he designed and built a log home in the mountains overlooking Lake Pend Oreille. He took up painting and writing adventure novels. He was an avid reader.

Harry lost Bonnie on Sept. 3, 2009.

In the year following year, Harry and Joyce Ketchpaw rekindled an old friendship and found love together. They were married on Thanksgiving Day 2011 in their home in East Troy. Joyce’s son-in-law officiated the union with both families participating.

In addition to leaving behind his wife, Joyce, Harry also leaves his children: Clayton (Rhonda), East Troy, Karen (Dennis) Pence, Candice (David, deceased) Naasz, both of Sandpoint, Ind., and Kerry (John) DaVault, Sagle, Ind.

He is further survived by grandchildren K.C. Abey, Sandpoint, Ind., Amanda Hinkle, Chicago, Jonathan and Kym DaVault, Sagle, Ind.; great-grandson, Connor Abey, brother, Carl (Dixie), Manhattan, Kan.; sisters, Beverly Agnew and Nadine Reed, Tucson, Ariz.

In addition, he is survived by his stepdaughters: Pam Ciha, Fond du Lac, Kim (Daniel) Huffman, Round Lake, Ill; step-grandchildren Abigail and Anna Chia, Fond du Lac and Noah, Gracie and Benjamin Huffman, Round Lake.

Harry was further preceded in death by his father Harry, mother Ruth Voorhees and great grandson, Carson Abey.

Harry was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and is a member of Sons of Norway. He loved vintage cars, all things Norwegian and all animals. He was a quiet man, a family man and a Viking to his death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15th at St. James United Methodist Church, East Troy. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church dining room.

Legacy Funeral Services, East Troy, is serving the family.
