DORIS MCGRAW

Doris McGraw, 82, died Aug. 22, 2014, at Fairhaven Senior Services, Whitewater, after a long illness.

Doris was born in Janesville, on Nov. 29, 1931, to Paul and Helen (Goede) Knudson.

She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Parochial School for eight years. She graduated from Janesville High School with the Class of 1949.

Upon graduation, Doris was employed as a secretary at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. There she met her future husband, Arthur Garfield McGraw, a faculty member in the education department. They married in Janesville on Nov. 28, 1952.

They were blessed with three sons, Bruce, David and Erik.

Doris enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and traveling with her family.

Survivors include her sons, Bruce (Kellie) of Keller, Texas, David (Stephanie) of Janesville, and Erik (Kathy) of Watauga, Texas; brothers, James (Beverly) and Robert (Arlene) Knudson, both of Janesville; grandchildren, Mitchell McGraw, Brandon McGraw, and Kelsey McGraw; three great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Arthur Garfield McGraw on March 25, 1988.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 116 S. Church St., Whitewater. The Rev. Jonathan Rossman will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 550 N. Newcomb St., Whitewater, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday.

Memorials to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 116 S. Church St., Whitewater, or to the Whitewater Food Pantry are suggested.
