GERALD R. KEPPEN

Gerald Richard Keppen, 81, of Palmyra, died June 6, 2014, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. He was born on Aug. 28, 1932, to the late Walter and Lena Keppen.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country in the 10th Infantry Division.

He married Karol Sue Stover on June 25, 1955.

He retired from Trent Tube of East Troy and served as a trustee on the Palmyra Village Board. He managed Sadie’s Softball Team, played Land O’ Lakes hardball and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; children, Eileen Slak, Fort Atkinson, and Kathy Mowat, Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Steven Slak and Theresa Blazek; great-grandchildren, Evalynn Taylor; brother, Robert (Deloris) Keppen, Palmyra; sister, Betty (Marshall) Baker, Arkansas.

He was further preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Donald; sisters, Dorothy and Grace; and grandson, Tyler Slak.

A celebration of his life will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the Haase Lockwood & Associates Funeral, 320 W. Main St., Palmyra. The Rev. Russ Frees Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
